THE
DRUMBEG PEAT ROAD WALK
This 7.4km circular route starts at Drumbeg Viewpoint and can be
walked in either direction. If taken in an anti clockwise
direction you will pass our Craft Shop and Tea Garden when
nearing the end of your walk, pop in for some well earned
refreshments!
Of course you can always go around clockwise and have a
delicious cream tea before you start and then burn it off, guilt
free cream tea - what could be better.
Every turn on the
spectacular Drumbeg Coastal road (B869) takes your breath away
mountain, loch and sea views with beautiful white sand beaches
greet you at every corner. This area known as Assynt was once
poetically described as:
"The part on the
map where the sea starts flowing over the edge of the world"
Wildlife
abounds, red deer, buzzards, otters, seals, pine martins, eagles
are all a common sight, not to mention it's a bird watchers
paradise and a fisherman's haven. Don't forget your walking
boots, from a stroll along one of the beaches to a more
strenuous hike up one of the nearby mountains such as Quinag.
If you want to
chill out, relax and de-stress come and pay our part of the
world a visit.
